M/V Cassidy is now.... Cassidy's Sailing Trawler
We are a family of 3 with plans to explore the world by boat. We recently transition from a Nordhavn 40 passagemaker, Cassidy to a Nordhavn 56 Motorsailer, Ata Marie. We have just changed the logo of this channel to reflect the new boat (March 2019) and may rename the channel at some point but for now we will leave it alone.
We will share our adventures in places that we cruise, as well as what goes into keeping the boat running and issues related to living on board a relatively small boat full time. We have been inspired to take this journey by other cruisers and hope that we can help inspire and show that it is possible to take the leap and untie the lines.

Boat Yard Projects - Nordhavn 56 Motorsailer: Ep. 27
This video shows some of the projects that we recently completed while hauled out of the water for 2 weeks at the boat yard at Baja Naval in Ensenada, MX. The main reason that we hauled out was to service our stuffing box and apply a coat of fresh anti-fouling paint, but we found more problems with the running gear that needed to be addressed after hauling out.
A summary of the work we did in the yard:
-Remove and lubricate Hundested controllable pitch propeller assembly
-Replace cutlass bearings (2)
-Overhaul stuffing box and machine to increase cooling water flow
-Remove through hull underwater lights, glass in holes, and replace with flush mount LED lights
-Apply Propspeed coating to propeller
-2 coats of antifouling paint, 3 at waterline
-Replace all worn zinc anodes
-Polish blue Awlcraft paint on hull
-Remove anchor chain to send to re-galvanize

A lot of people have been asking us to put together a tour of our Nordhavn 40. The Nordhavns are very unique boats and are often described as Trawler Yachts or “Passagemakers”. Regardless of what you call it, the Nordhavn 40 is a super capable boat and has taken us all the way from Northern California to Alaska and back down the entire west coast of the US to Southern California so far. We thou...

for this 5 week voyage did you work remote? or do you have long vacation or retired?
Sad to see that she is now for sale.
now i know what this is called. i thank you good sir. don't mind losing the speed if i can get rewarded with stability. good promotion for the boat as well, didn't know it came stock in any boat, everywhere i run into this it seems a novelty...
What a great little ship.
Only just found this....Great tour, really usefull and thanks for the detailed explanations! Cassidy is wonderful as well- what a lovely young lady.
Hi) I saw your boat for sale. It’s a pity that I won’t see any more videos from your channel. The price is interesting, I think the second day. I remember how envious I was of you four years ago. But I have little experience. Very inconvenient location in California. It's a shame it's not Florida. I wish all the best to your family) upd. I remembered how you refueled in Acapulco) this is the best video I’ve seen on the Internet)
This has been an incredible tour of your vessel.i love the detail you covered concerning the electronics, your wife and daughter also did a brilliant job showing the berths and head. Thanks for this incredible tour, safe sailing and fair winds.
Miss your videos. hope all is well
Hi I know this is an old video but I thought you might be interested I have a Robert BB passagemaker 56 made of timber. This is what the Nordhavn 57 was based on. I love you boat and enjoy watching your videos. I'm currently cruising south east Asia hope to see you on the ocean someday.
no offense, but I'd prefer Cassidy to give the ENTIRE tour next time.
Prop speed is a waste of money IMO. Tried it a couple of times and if your using the boat a lot it comes off just li,e everything else!
A davit is expensive? Sorry but I think the "expensive" ship has already sailed
Love the fuel dock!
Nice family, very good video. Thanks for making it 👍
Olá poderia ATIVAR as LEGENDA PARA PORTUGUÊS OBRIGADO
looks like a great boat. If you are new to sailing, two small suggestions that could be helpful. #1 on a big sailboat, when handling lines coming off of the winches, keep your pinky toward the winch drum instead of your thumb and forefinger; #2 when the jib is luffing and you're on deck, don't let the hardware at the jib's clew hit you - it's big and it's pretty heavy especially if it's getting swung around by a luffing jib.
Great video but that looks like a total pain to deal with. Imagine doing all that in bumpy seas or you arrive at an inlet and need to put the stabilizers back on the boat and it's rough out and there is lots of boat traffic. No wonder they are obsolete on boats now. I'll stick to my Naids. The one use I see is at anchor if they can stop the surge and roll that's present throughout the Bahamas!
Nice boat, boring video
Great boat and Great Family.and your daughter is precious.and explains great.your blessed.God bless you all
Trebadation in voice or excitement? Maybe both I would be water tight doors blue water enjoy! Probably good four young guys in Nicaragua? Could have been different
Too bad this was the video after the day you bought it. I'll have to try & figure out order glad you numbered them.👍
Nice steal would have liked better video but what I see is close to what I would have wanted. Especially when I was young but now unless I find a first & health improves?? 👍Lets see more!
Had the pleasure of walking aboard "Nord Sail One" when it arrived at Elliott Bay Marina in Seattle. Never understood why on The Walking Dead they didn't go looking for one, commandeer it, and live like kings
I really enjoy your being absolutely clueless, because I am too and it's inspiring that other people share my sort of "Yeah. I can do that", attitude in doing something that is becoming more and more an ambition of mine. I started looking at motor yachts and trawlers, but as time went on motor-sailers seemed like the most practical solution to skill level (0), and financial ability. I also like the quirky accomodations due to the quasi-sailboat hull shape, they feel cosier and the water is more immediate to the experience. I've pushed all the buttons and looking forward to the next episode. Kudos.
What weapons do you carry for your personal protection?
Seems like every nordhavn owner moves up, not out
Cassidy... But it didnt hit me until i saw the dinghy
Where have you guys been? Dropped off the radar...
Headliners. Always the headliners..
you should practice steering out drills. Let me tell you when shit goes bad it goes bad fast. I am surprised you passed inspection with out wheel.
@cassidyssailingtrawler What make and model microwave is that?
👋👍❤
This is my choice since retirement and have sailed and shipped and large yacht building and maintenance. You're going to be happy with the choice of sail when you need it and motoring when you want it..Awesome choice. Godspeed people..Your daughter will have an excellent life...keep her harnessed.
Can you please give us an update on the condition of the bikes? I'm weary of folding bikes because of the locking corroding, esp in the Caribbean where I'm located😂
Good luck with the ICW.
T happened to Cassidy Sailing? Hope all is good!
I Love the background music……totally fitting.
Esse e um barco veleiro dos meus sonhos, amei a configuracao e sim, se deus quizer quando eu tiver dinheiro vou atras de comprar um!
Wow, the camera work in this video is absolutely amazing! I was so captivated by every shot. My only small wish is that we could have seen "GGB" a bit more. But hey, beggars can't be choosers, right? Overall, fantastic job on the video! Keep up the great work!
We built the canal and now they get the toll revenue. We must be the stupidest country on this Earth.
I get people get tired of posting and having to make videos, but I hope your family is safe and you are still living the best life no matter what that is for you!
You ever coming back?
Yes!!! We keep talking about making more videos, sometimes life gets in the way but we will make more content!
@@CassidysSailingTrawler good to hear, we miss watching your adventures.
I love the boat. Sell it to me 😎👍
The way your daughter explains having to wipe the lens off is too cute!!! 😂❤. Great video!!! Edit: I realize I’m about 4 years late to this party. Lol. But I’m just now catching Nordhavn fever. I’m hooked and working towards owning one myself in the future. I’ll follow y’all’s journey til then😎👍
I was going to comment on how that just seems like a massive amount of extra failure points....then noticed they haven't posted for 2 years.
The Cat was pretty ordinary after the luxury of the Nordhavn
am a bit amazed about the big deal it looks like to just pass locks. Really big business they made out of it.
This is pretty cool! I'm going to watch it in sections to extend the time I can watch. Not much of what you outline is at all new to me (I don't have a Nordhavn though) but it is so neat to just walk though it all.
I am in love with this 40, absolutely stunning. I am just to old for a Cassidy in my life right now to get into that anchor hatch 😁 my boys's head won't even fit.
